Welcome to Eileen's Yoga

Eileen has been studying & practicing yoga for over 40 years. At the age of 20, while working full-time as an oncology nurse, Eileen was seeking a deeper connection to her spiritual nature & explored yoga as a way to bring balance into a very demanding work life. Eileen began to notice that yoga cultivated a sense of calm and centredness within, as well as a deeper connection to the spirituality of life and was a beautiful tool to bring into her entire life.

Since receiving her Yoga Teachers Certification at Kripalu Institute for Yoga & Health in Massachusetts in 1991, Eileen has been teaching group & one-on-one yoga classes, as well as creating and facilitating wellness and yoga-related "playshops", for nearly 30 years. She has taught at the Kripalu Centre for Yoga & Health and was the Core Faculty yoga teacher at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in New York for 3 years. She is also certified in Restorative Yoga, Prenatal Yoga and Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Training for Health Professionals. Eileen has studied Thai Yoga Massage at the Lotus Palm School in Montreal and in Thailand. She has been attuned to Reiki levels 1 and 2. In addition, Eileen is certified as an Urban Poling Instructor and teaches classes combining nordic pole walking and yoga.

Eileen brings her diversified background as a Registered Nurse into her teaching experience; including working in the oncology and complementary medicine world, 10 years in a birthing centre, and 8 years as a hospice nurse. Eileen also provides a heart-centred teaching style that encourages her students to cultivate loving-kindness towards themselves through a flowing experience of conscious movement, breath & mindful awareness.

Personal experiences with various physical injuries and a past history persistent pain have also given Eileen a deeper understanding of and compassion for those living with such issues.

She is passionate about empowering her students and clients to find greater health in all levels of their being, and she strives to create a loving and mutually supportive community in all her classes.
